Money + Possibility An Experiment

"The experiment is simple:  Starting now, you make the Goddess of Possibility your financial adviser, until the end of the month (and beyond, if it’s working for you)."

When you engage your imagination fully, you become possibility.

As you and the Goddess of Possibility work magic with your money this month, this is the larger question for you to consider:
What is more powerful, money or possibility?
What happens in your world when money is more powerful than possibility?
What happens in your world when possibility is more powerful than money?

This completely fits in with my One Word Strive. Getting control of my finances is something I desperately need for my life. When it comes to money I really am a complete mess. I never follow a budget. I am completely impulsive and spend my money without even stopping to think. I have the best intentions as for how I want to spend my money. I just have no control over myself once I have it. This is something that causes the most amount of  stress in my life. Something I never feel in control of. And something that causes so much guilt once I have spent unwisely. I really beat myself a lot when it comes to money. In STRIVING to get my finances  under control I hope to learn to feel better about myself and who I am.

Just a little while ago I went to the mall with Emily. She wanted more printer ink to print some pictures. I had enough money in the account but needed to spend that money on something I've budgeted for. I actually did stop and think about the topic of possibility and instantly set it aside and bought the ink anyways. Now, as usual I know I was stupid and I am beating myself up for being so stupid. Feels like I'll never learn.

I am going to think seriously about this topic over the rest of the month. It is something I so desperately need to work on. I am going to sit down and but a budget on paper. One I can actually look at. Maybe having something to look at, something tangible, will help me to remain more focused on being more responsible.

52 Weeks To An Organized Home : Week 1

I just happened to stumble on this organized house challenge on the Home Storage Solutions 101 site. In focusing on my One Word 2012 which is STRIVE this seemed like the perfect challenge to participate in. For one of the areas I want to STRIVE in my life is to purge, declutter and organize my home. As well as to create a cleaning routine that is easy to stick with so that my house isn't always such a mess. When it's a mess I feel bad about it, about people seeing it, about my ability as a mom and woman. I really get down on myself. By STRIVING to create a home I love being in that is neat and organized I am STRIVING to feel better about who I am.

WEEK 1 CHALLENGE: KITCHEN ORGANIZATION  - COUNTER TOPS & SINK

Step 1 - Think about the functions of your kitchen.
Step 2 - Create usable counter space & clear your table.
Step 3 - Consider storage solutions to help clear counter space.
Step 4 - Create a habit of keeping your sink clear from dishes at least 2 times per day.

The kitchen is definitely the worst room in my home. I absolutely hate doing dishes. Today I am going to tackle this week's challenge. I took some before pictures (which are embarrassing to actually look at.) I will blog later about completing the challenge and will include some before & after photos.

One Word 2012 : STRIVE

I've been thinking a lot about One Word 2012 for the past few weeks. From the beginning the word that kept popping up for me was routine. Setting routines and sticking with them in order to make my life better. then, today while I was reading articles about One Word my word came to me STRIVE. For in order to improve my life there needs to be more than just a routine set in place there needs to also be a momentum, a force that pulls you further and forwards and all I could think of was to strive. To continually improve and reach for all the goals you have set for yourself. And the word just clicked.

Here are some of the ways I want to strive this year. I know as days unfold I will be making lots of changes and additions to this list. But here's a starting point at least:

I want to STRIVE with my creativity, To continue to participate in challenges and classes that inspire me to create. To continue to learn new techniques. To learn art journaling. I want to create daily, to blog daily, and to take photographs daily.

I want to STRIVE to live fully. To make each moment count. To see the good in all. To cherish the little things. To remain positive. To challenge myself daily.

I want to STRIVE with my finances. To learn to stick to a budget. To stop being so impulsive with my money. To pay off debts I owe.

I want to STRIVE with my home. I want to participate in 52 Weeks to An Organized Home. I want to set up cleaning routines that the kids and I can follow to keep up to date with our cleaning. I wan to de-clutter and organize.

I want to STRIVE with my photography business. I want to learn more about my camera and photography in general. Search out some classes or challenges to help me improve. I want to STRIVE to have more photo shoots this year than last year (15).

I want to STRIVE with healthy choices. To make healthier more informed eating choices for the girls and I. To exercise (probably walking) three times per week for more than a half hour. To quit smoking. To quit drinking. To get more fresh air.
